They’ve found an effective cervical cancer vaccine.
The religious right is saying “It’ll make girls into sluts if they’re not afraid of catching an STD!”. Of course, I’d rather have a non-infected, cancer-free slut than a prematurely dead woman, virtue intact. Additionally, they don’t mention that they themselves are full of every kind of shit imaginable.
This is a great, great thing. Half a million new cases of HPV related cancer every year, especially in the third world, could be prevented.
